Emails are not sent: the customer email or the admin notification are not received.

Answer

I have set email templates but no emails are sent. The admin is not notified of a new reservation or the customer does not receive the confirmation of his booking. What should I do?

Emails can be tricky and there are different reason that can explain that the emails are not received. Here is our guide to debug and find out where the problem is:

1. Double check your email template set up: 

  • Are you using the correct variables for the "From", "To", "Reply-to" fields? You can see the list of variables that you can use right under the email template table.
  • Have you selected the correct action? You can set if the email is to be sent automatically upon new reservation (from customers), new reservation (from admin), confirmation of reservation or cancellation of reservation.

2. Check that your WordPress install can send email correctly: To test that, you can use a plugin as Check Email.

3. Check that there is no plugin conflict: If your install can send email, then you should try to de-activate all plugins except HBook and check if the problem remains. If not, please re-activate the plugins one by one and test each time to find out which one is creating the error.

4. Check that your mail server is working properly: If the steps above did not solve the issue, you might wish to contact your host provider to explain your problem and see if they can double check that everything is set up correctly on their side.

If none of the above could solve your issue or if your problem is that the emails are regularly treated as Spams, we suggest you to connect your site with your mail server via SMTP.
